The third edition of the Perspectives on Pastoralism Film Festival was launched on 11 September 2024 at the Tropentag conference in Vienna, Austria. Because of the international year of the camelids, al films are about camelids in tropical areas of Africa, Asia and Andes. The festival highlights how pastoralist communities in dry and mountainous areas depend on mobile camelid farming to make a living. It also shows how these communities work with their livestock and the environment to manage land sustainably, using resources in a way that benefits both the land and the well-being of their animals. The films cover topics like camelid breeding, trade, and the challenges faced by camel herders, especially in getting fair prices for their products. They also highlight the efforts of pastoralists to strengthen local economies and improve life for their communities.

After the films will be a discussion with filmmaker Sarah Lunaček and other researchers and practitioners in camelid pastoralism.
